So how about some results?
My bad.
New APW Tag Team Champs are Buck/Sk8r, defeating Vain & Phoenix in the main.
Creed retains the Southern States title with a No Contest declared after Abomination basically knocked Creed goofy with a pair of massive slams & was setting up for a third when the match was waved off & half the face dressing room came out to distract the monster & rescue Creed (and a frightened ref).
Slim J lost to Reuben James thanks to an assist from ... heck, this is why I didn't say much about the results because some of the names were lost on me. Okay, after searching some old results to grab the name, it was J.T. Tallent. From ringside he pushed James enough roll him out of a pinning predicament & reverse things for a 3 count.
Tallent had a busy night, having earlier abandoned his partner in a tag match against Nick Halen & darnedifIgothisname ... who finished off a win quickly only to be laid out by chairwielding Matt Sells & Ryan Michaels who then cut a promo promising to make sure whoever got tag titles wouldn't have them long.
Simon Sermon did some solid mic work, saying he had beaten pretty much everyone & was getting bored so he wanted to do something different tonight. He brought out Don Matthews & asked him to tag with him. Sermon started out (with the title still around his waist & in street clothes) against a couple of trainee types (Storm & Lee), tagging Matthews in after about 2 seconds. Over the next several minutes we saw the definition of the word "squash" for Matthews while Sermon had a snack, read the paper, chatted with fans at ringside, etc. Afterwards, Matthews got very strong heat with a couple of fans & got off the line of the night (to a young woman "I don't care if you are a superheavyweight, I'll still take you on if you'll get in that ring").
Hawkins & Randall won ... I'm thinking that was over Konley & Pendleton but I'm having a brain cramp at the moment.
And young ref Wes wrestled double duty in the opener, beating "Sexual Vanilla with Sprinkles" Dirt before losing to Rob Adonis who wanted to show his trainee how things were supposed to be done.
I'd guess the crowd was in the 60-70 range, which really wasn't bad considering the heat & a water line break that left the building with no working bathrooms.
On the whole, it's a dramatically different experience than the Cornelia environment but it's still interesting to see some familiar faces working in different roles. For the price ($10 adults, $5 12 and under) it's worth checking out from time to time, although I'm not sure I'd want to do it every week.
This was the third straight weekend of wrestling for me & my son - Slammiversary, Hostile Environment, APW - and schedule permitting next Saturday in Cornelia would be four in a row. I can't remember the last time I've done 3 or 4 weekends straight, it's been years ...
I feel a little like you
(minus the good recap part)
